WORKSHOPS AVAILABLE

WORKSHOPS.  I have several TA training workshops available that I offer for trainees, for therapists, their patients, and for business. Over the decades, I have demonstrated these groups throughout the United States and in over a dozen countries.  The fees are usually all expenses paid plus an honorarium.  These workshops can include all day or half day therapy demonstrations and other workshops and keynote speeches, tailored to the time and needs of the sponsor.  The most popular workshops are the intuition ones and the relationship training ones listed below:

CLOSE ENCOUNTERS OF THE FIRST KIND
This is a very thorough intuition training workshop usually given on Saturday morning of a weekend workshop. Participants enter and pick up four two-sided colored worksheets. We discuss the difference between natural intuition (Free Child) and script intuition (Adapted Child) and how to evaluate the two. Then we discuss each of the intuition readings that appear on both sides of the sheet. The participants then break up into intimate small groups of four. Protective ground rules are established and time is kept. One person then leads off talking about themselves for two minutes, not looking at the worksheet. For seven minutes each group member silently fills out a worksheet of their intuitions, then each person in turn tells the speaker their impressions for another seven minutes each. Total feedback time is 21 minutes, with thirty minutes total spent on each speaker.  Then the group moves on to the next speaker. The speaker is evaluated on their openness to receive the information, and then at the end they collect the three sheets for reference and souvenirs. Then we go on to the next person until each person gets their readings and practices readings.

DEEPENING RELATIONSHIPS
This Saturday afternoon workshop builds on the people-reading skills of the morning workshop and teaches in depth how to meet and maintain relationships, using the worksheet of ideas below. Each item is discussed thoroughly. Participants fill out their own sheet, reflecting on their needs and patterns in their relationships and what to do about them. Then in groups of three they discuss these and the value and difficulty of making friendships and relationships in general, and some specifically.

THE GET-WELL-OF-DEPRESSION CHECK LIST
Another half-day workshop uses the two-sided worksheet below to clarify and score the current events in your life, minor or major, on this particular date. Another worksheet is taken home for comparison for a later date one year from now.

The most common stresses people face have been collected and are listed on the worksheet and discussed in the group. Whatever applies to you, you circle these one by one on your own worksheet to keep. Depression here is approached as a numerical accumulation of 1) your current depressing events, 2) depressing interpretation of these events, 3) a habit of depressing self-talk.

The large group then breaks up into intimate small groups of four with the constructive focus of helping people talk about their list. If the Friendship Support Circles model is used, one person will pick one problem to present; the other three will play specific roles. One will be the Feeling Person with empathic sharing. One will be the Thinking Person with fresh ideas and interpretations. The third will be the Action person confronting passivity and offering solutions. Each person, to be helpful and for their own practice, needs to play their roles exactly. After fifteen minutes, the four roles are rotated; no one plays the same role twice. The receiver is graded along the Listening Scale on how well they accept the help (100%), or fight it off (0%). Participants then discuss how easy or difficult it was for them to play their different roles. Download the Friendship Support Circles.pdf under “Game Free Communication For Couples, Part II” on this website for more details. The entertaining DVD can be purchased here to show how the exercises are taught and played out.

GAME FREE COMMUNICATION FOR COUPLES, PART II
This is the half-day workshop I recently gave at the ITAA/USATAA Summer conference that is being edited for DVD sale.  Many communication concepts are discussed and then practiced as experiential exercises. People are instructed how to safely do the chosen exercises. They first learn and practice the closed-minded negative way of doing the ideas, and then move on next to learn and practice the same idea in the open-minded positive  way, all the while getting help on a problem interest of theirs. From the various concepts on the worksheets below, we demonstrate and practice several openness concepts, including the dual ego state Personality Pinwheel, the Intimacy Scale of discussion topics, the C.A.S.E. loop of 4 blocks to intimacy; the S.E.V.F. loop for receptivity and closure; the A.I.R. apology and accountability process; Five Trust Contracts For Couples; the Drama Triangle game switches and escapes, and others found on the worksheets below. Participants pair up with a partner and play both roles. They are asked to pick one fault in themselves that they don’t want to change, or invent one, and then fight off the attempts to help them. Then they switch to the positive uses of the ideas in order to experience how that works better. View or download the link on the left margin of this website to see the 7 pages of 20 original concepts that can be used in a half day or full day workshop.
